Customer Experience Workshops

K12 Insight’s customer experience workshops are guided professional learning workshops for teachers and staff .

THE PROBLEM:
Professional development workshops for teachers and staff are very uninspired and sterile. If students have a hard time retaining information in a boring setting, how are adults supposed to? K12 Insight already helps school district’s foster a positive learning environment through their products. They felt a strong calling and saw an opportunity to teach the importance of customer experience in schools by providing interactive workshops.

THE SOLUTION:
The solution included several interactive workshops that were focused on the importance of customer service in schools. The workshops were curated and designed by former educators for K-12 educators.

The overall theme of the workshop is based around superheroes. Superheroes don’t need to wear capes to save the world. They come in various shapes and sizes like a 2nd grade teacher, a custodian, and a principal. The workshops provide tools and skills school staff members need in order to provide positive customer experience in their schools.

The workshops included:
-on-site K12 Insight staff lead workshops
-an interactive PowerPoint presentation
-a workbook that coincided with the presentation
-customer persona cards
-role-playing activity cards
-certificate of completion for professional hours
-superhero themed custom flyers, posters, and invitations to promote workshops in school districts
-superhero take home swag for attendees

IMPACT & RESULTS:
-I designed a logo with complete brand identity around superhero themes
-I designed an interactive PowerPoint presentation along with a workbook and hands-on/role-playing activities
-within 4 months of launching the workshops, there were about 3-5 weekly workshops held (average 15-20 workshops/month)
-workshops were designed for scalability (presentations and workbooks were templatized for easy updates and content change)
-the workshops were so successful that several school districts requested webinar options

THE LOGO

THE LOGO

The inspiration for the logo came from Captain America’s shield and aviator badges. I wanted the logo to look like a badge that was meant to represent a “badge of honor” for all of the hard work it took to earn it. After completing the workshops staff members should feel empowered to make a positive impact in their school community, and they have the “S.U.P.E.R” badge to show for it.

COLOR SCHEME & TYPEFACE

COLOR SCHEME & TYPEFACE

The inspiration for the color scheme came nostalgic comic books of Captain America and Superman. I also incorporated colors from K12 Insight’s style guidelines. The main two colors used throughout the materials were black and gold. The bright red and blue were used as accent colors. The typeface was also heavily influenced by comic books.

WORKSHOP COLLATERAL

WORKSHOP COLLATERAL

The workshop collateral included an interactive presentation with a workbook and activity card prompts. The overall look and feel of the materials were meant to be playful and fun. Even though attendees are attending professional development workshops that doest not mean they can’t have fun in the process.

Additional collateral included take-home swag like a mug, small tote bag to store all of their workshop materials, a small poster they could display at their work station. They also received a certificate of completion that could be credited with professional hours and a photo-opt with superhero props. School districts were also given easily customizable print flyers and invitations to promote the workshops.
